As the Buddhists say, “do-be-do-be-do”
The relationship between Doing and Being defines who we are.
We are verbs.
When we are seen as objects, we are only partly seen.
Doing is the combination of Agency and Who am I?
Being is the combination of Commitment and Trust
Identity only deepens over time. We become more of who we are.
We realize that we only are because of those who preceded us.
This is the basis of kinship. We are all related. ASCEND views Identity as foundational strength that is shared as circles of kinship expand.
There is personal kinship, which is claimed. There is social kinship, which is being claimed by. Where these meet, our Identity forms.
