ASCEND Genius Hours are six week collections of one-hour activities that happen alone, in sequence or combination with community projects supported by volunteers.
Each hour adds up! Each skill you use adds up!
ASCEND Genius Hours are six-week programs that bridge home, school and community. They can take place during Genius Hour periods in schools, as part of Out-of-School Time (OST) programs, or in families’ homes. Each of the programs listed below provides students (Grades 3 through 12) with opportunities to learn critical durable life skills as they complete place-based experiential learning projects. They also learn to make StoryMaps and develop evidence of their mastery in using what they learn in real life.

ASCEND takes place in Community Schools many of whom are in partnership with counties implementing the 100% New Mexico Initiative, to overcome access barriers to the 10 Vital Services required to Survive and Thrive, centered on “One Stop Family Centers” often located in Community Schools.
We assist these partners in developing human capacity for their programs to strengthen well-being in an digital age. Each county is developing specific plans to increase access and workforce using broadband for our three components: workforce, access and community support.
